Did you know that Jacksonville has the largest urban park system in the country? The Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve, Jacksonville's National Park, will celebrate National Park Week April 21st-27th with special programs available to visitors. This year's theme "Did You Know?" celebrates all of the fun facts and hidden stories within the National Park Service.  We invite you to come out to Kingsley Plantation and Fort Caroline National Memorial to discover exciting tales in any of the week long events, including Jr. Ranger Day on Saturday the 27th of April.

National Park Week is an annual week for celebrating and recognizing your National Parks. Admission to the park is free all week long and special events will highlight the celebration. Living history demonstrations will be presented each weekday afternoon at both Fort Caroline and Kingsley Plantation. A special evening hike of the Fort George Island trails is scheduled on Friday April 26th at 6 p.m. The event is free but reservations are required. Please call 904.251.3537 for more information and to book your spot.

National Park Week includes Junior Ranger Day, a special day for kids to come out for youth oriented programs. This year kids who participate in the Junior Ranger Day activities will earn a special patch celebrating the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Timucuan Preserve. There will be a compass scavenger hunt at Kingsley Plantation and a chance to earn your own Junior Ranger badge at Fort Caroline and Kingsley Plantation. Bring the whole family out for this free event.  The beautiful expanse of the Timucuan Preserve is located largely within the city limits of Jacksonville, Florida. Come experience salt marshes, wildlife, miles of trail access, cultural sites, and more. The Timucuan Preserve Visitor Center is located at Fort Caroline National Memorial. Call 904.641.7155 for more information or visit our website at https://www.nps.gov/timu. Visit Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve on Facebook or on Twitter @TimucuanNPS.
