South Unit Park Entrance Closure

NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC

Park areas surrounding the entrance to the South Unit, Theodore Roosevelt National Park, will be closed to the public from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday July 1, 2026. The closure will include park lands starting at the intersection of Pacific Ave and East River Road, Medora and continue on East River Road until it crosses Highway 94. The closure will include the South Unit Visitor Center and Parking Lot, and all park lands to the east and west of East River Road until the highway crossing. A map illustrating the closure is attached.

This closure will also affect one of the Park’s designated demonstration areas. A temporary designated area will be available just north of Second Ave in Medora. This relocation will allow for permitted and unpermitted demonstration activities as defined in 36 C.F.R. § 2.51 and 36 C.F.R. § 2.52 and is delineated on the attached map. This temporary relocation is only in effect for the length of the closure on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

The park areas will be temporarily closed for security purposes.
