The Tennessee Civil War National Heritage Area is administered by the Center for Historic Preservation, which maintains two offices on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University: the Harrison House at 1416 East Main Street and the Black House at 1417 East Main Street.
Visitors are encouraged to come to the Heritage Center of Murfreesboro and Rutherford County at 225 West College Street in Murfreesboro for an introduction to the Heritage Area, which encompasses the entire state of Tennessee, and to learn about the war and Reconstruction in the local area.
The Heritage Center of Murfreesboro and Rutherford County
From Interstate Highway I-24, take exit 78 at Murfreesboro and go north on U.S. Highway 231/Highway 96 (Old Fort Parkway). Continue on Old Fort Parkway to its intersection with U.S. Highway 41 (Broad Street). Continue north through the intersection and then take the first immediate right (College Street). Continue east on College Street to the location of The Heritage Center at 225 West College Street.
