Structural Fire Careers

Work With Us

The Structural Fire Program works with Volunteers-in-Parks (VIPs), and fire protection interns for some fire protection and prevention needs. In many cases, the national parks work with neighboring communities for structural fire protection. However, in the case of remote parks, there may be a contingent of collateral duty structural firefighters that serve in other divisions, including facilities management, law enforcement, natural and cultural resource management, interpretation, etc. These collateral duty firefighters obtain their qualifications through an academy hosted in Boise, Idaho and must maintain currency through refresher trainings.
