This Friday and Saturday, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore (National Lakeshore) will be offering a new ranger-led program called Pokemon Hunt,  which will connect “Pokemon Go!” with real-world flora and fauna.

The first program will take place on Friday, August 5, from 2:00-3:00 p.m., at the Dune Climb. Meet the ranger at the base of the Dune Climb. The second program will be on Saturday, August 6, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at the Glen Haven Historic Village. Meet the ranger just outside the cannery entrance. Additional #Pokemon Hunt programs will be offered throughout the summer and fall.

This interactive, ranger-guided walk will allow visitors to uncover the creatures, both physical and virtual, that can be found within the National Lakeshore. They will learn how these creatures do or do not fit in with the rest of the environment, and what can be done to help them thrive. At the end of the program, visitors will be able to design their own Pokemon. “Trainers” of all ages are welcome.

All ranger program events are free with a park pass. For a listing of future events, check the park’s event calendar at https://www.nps.gov/slbe/planyourvisit/calendar.htm
