Book Signing Event with Author and Illustrator Lori Taylor

News Release Date: July 1, 2019 The National Park Service at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is pleased to announce a special book signing with artist, author, and illustrator Lori Taylor, to take place on Tuesday, July 9 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Philip A. Hart Visitor Center in Empire, MI. Ms. Taylor will be available to meet park visitors and sign copies of her popular books, including the “Holly Wild” series of children’s books, and her newest book, “The Legend of the Sleeping Bear.”

As an Artist-in-Residence at the National Lakeshore in 2007, Ms. Taylor lived in the National Lakeshore and took inspiration from park resources to create the poem and artwork that became her newest book. Taylor’s interpretation of the famed Odawa Indian legend of the mother black bear and her twin cubs is one of hope and dreams.
