Distance Learning

Distance Learning programs are webcam-based programs where students interact directly with a ranger. These programs are interactive; we use props, videos, pictures, and power point presentations to engage students.

Don't see a program that meets your needs? Just ask! Specialized programs are available on a case-by-case basis.

To schedule a program please email slbe_education @nps.gov (remove space before @ when sending email) with the following information.

Name:
Contact Info:
School Name:
Grade:
Number of participants (minimum number of students is five):

Preferred webcam service (Zoom, Teams, etc.):
Program name:
3 date and time preferences (please state your timezone):

*We would appreciate programs being scheduled at least 2 weeks in advance.

Are there special needs we can accommodate? (IE closed captioning etc.)

What to expect
After providing the information listed above, a ranger will work with you to schedule your program and a brief test of the webcam connection. Programs are roughly 30 minutes in length, but we like to have a flexible ending time so we can answer student questions. Most programs have interactive elements where the students will complete an individual or small group activity. Prior to the program, the ranger will let you know what supplies you'll need (blank paper and markers or a printed PDF of a worksheet etc., for example).
