Shiloh National Military Park is one of 132 national parks selected to receive a field trip grant from the National Park Foundation. This grant will aid in connecting the park with elementary age students. It is estimated that 700 kids, 250 fourth graders and 450 fifth graders, will get to experience both the Shiloh and Corinth battlefields through the field trip grant.

This grant is part of the Foundation’s Open OutDoors for Kids program.

More than 200,000 children across the country will visit national parks during the 2018-2019 school year, thanks to grants from the National Park Foundation. “We are very happy to receive this grant,” said Superintendent Dale Wilkerson. “By covering the transportation costs for the schools, we now have a wonderful opportunity for hands-on learning in our parks, and connecting the children with the great outdoors.”

The National Park Foundation is the official charity of the National Park Service. Since 1967, the Foundation has raised private funds to help protect national parks through conservation and preservation efforts, and connect Americans with their natural landscapes and rich history.
