On Saturday, August 14, Shiloh National Military Park will host a BARK Ranger Hike. Shiloh is inviting families to bring their dogs out to the park for a ranger led hike to the Hornets’ Nest.
The hike will take place at 10:00 am and meet at Tour Stop #3. The distance will be about one mile in length over easy terrain. Participants will learn about the Hornets’ Nest and monumentation along the Sunken Road. All dogs completing the hike will receive a BARK Ranger certificate and BARK Ranger dog tag.
Attendees must pre-register and bring water and doggie bags for their animals. Children are invited to bring stuffed animals if they wish to participate without a pooch.
Guests are invited to register in advance by calling the park’s visitor center at 731-689-5696. Space is limited and dogs must be friendly and get along with other dogs. All dogs must be on a leash or in a carrier.
Temperature/heat index above 100 or thunderstorms will cancel the hike.
