National Park Service Directives and Policies

The National Park Service has several sources of detailed written guidance to help managers make day-to-day decisions. The primary source of guidance is the 2006 edition of Management Policies, which is also the foremost element of the Service’s directives system (Chapter 2 on Park System Planning is especially useful). Other elements include Director's Orders, Handbooks and Reference Manuals.
