NPS Photo / Mark Garrett Be PreparedEmergencies are common in the National Parks, and Sequoia and Kings Canyon is no exception. Over the past three years, our parks have experienced devastating natural forces like the KNP Complex, the Castle Fire, heavy snowpack, and historic flooding. When emergencies like these happen in the parks, updates and information for National Park Service employees will appear here. If there are no emergencies in the parks, resources will still be available here for preparation and planning.

Giant ForestThis webcam looks west from the edge of the Giant Forest. In summer, a gray layer of polluted air can be seen forming over the valley. Rarely can you see both the San Joaquin Valley and the Coast Range beyond that. With increasing air pollution blowing up into the Sierra Nevada from the Bay Area and the Valley, very clear days are becoming ever more rare. View Webcam |
