SALEM, MA - The 2017 Salem Maritime Festival, a celebration of "Maritime 101," will be held Friday, August 4 through Sunday, August 6, 2017 and hosted by the National Park Service on the historic wharves and in the yards of the historic buildings at Salem Maritime National Historic Site. In its 29th year, the 3–day Salem Maritime Festival offers an exciting array of free fun for everyone, including live music, harbor cruises, craft demonstrations, re-enactors, story-telling, visiting vessels, fish painting, kite-flying, radio-controlled boats, and much more! “The National Park Service welcomes everyone to come visit the festival and rekindle your interest in our maritime heritage,” remarked Superintendent Paul DePrey. “There is something for everyone!”

The Festival's live music schedule kicks off on Friday, August 4th at 6:00pm with a sunset concert on historic Central Wharf. Bring your dinner to picnic by the waterside, and be ready to dance under the stars—opening act TBA! On Saturday, August 5th the live music program continues at 11:00am with concerts by Ye Mariners All, Sharks Come Cruisin, Jackson Gilman, Warszawiaki Orchestra, New Bedford Harbor Sea Chantey Chorus and the West End Ramblers ending at 8:00pm. Sleep in a bit on Sunday and return to the historic wharves at Noon for Ye Mariners All, Jackson Gilman, 3 Sheets to the Wind, and Marina Evans ending at 5:00pm.

One of the most popular features of the Festival is Saturday’s free 90-minute boat rides around Salem Harbor. The following vessels will participate in free harbor cruises: Schooner Ardelle, Sea Shuttle's Endeavour, and Schooner Fame. Also, Schooner Adventure returns to Salem for the Festival on Saturday and Sunday. Don't miss a chance to board this National Historic Landmark.
