San Juan National Historic Site invites you to celebrate Veterans Day by visiting Castillo SanFelipe del Morro and Castillo San Cristobal on Tuesday, October 11th.Entrance to the fortifications will be freefor all visitors in recognition of this special day as we honor all men andwomen of our armed forces. "National parks andthe military have strong ties, with almost 100 National Parks, Monuments,Battlefields and Historic Sites in the United States and its territories havinga military theme including our very own here in San Juan" said SuperintendentWalter J. Chavez. "The fortifications of Castillo San Cristobal and CastilloSan Felipe de El Morro were for many years a major part of Fort Brooke, a U.SArmy installation", added Chavez.Asmall ceremony for park employees to acknowledge our own veterans will be heldon November 10th. The tradition of providing all our visitorsincluding veterans and active duty military members with opportunities forrelaxation, recreation, and camaraderie in the great outdoors continues todayand we hope last for a lifetime. "Please join us in thanking our service members, includingour own park staff who are veterans, for their contributions and service,"concluded Superintendent Chavez. The park offers free annual passes to current militarymembers and their dependents. San Juan National Historic Siteis comprised of Castillo San Felipe del Morro, Castillo San Cristóbal, Fort SanJuan de La Cruz (El Cañuelo), San Juan Gate, and most of the City Wall. Thesite is open every day from 9:00AM to 6:00PM, except on Thanksgiving, Christmasand New Year's Day.Admission to San JuanNHS and its fortifications is $5 for visitors 16 years or more and free forthose 15 and under with an adult. ### CELEBRACIÓN DÍA DEL VETERANO EN EL SAN JUAN NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE San Juan NationalHistoric Site les invita a la celebración del Día del Veterano, visitando el Castillo San Felipe del Morro y elCastillo San Cristóbal, el martes 11 de octubre. La entrada a lasfortificaciones será gratuita para todos los visitantes en reconocimiento de éstedía tan especial cuando honramos a todos los hombres y mujeres de nuestrasfuerzas armadas. "Los parquesnacionales y los milicia tienen lazos fuertes, aproximadamente 100 parques nacionales,monumentos, campos de batalla y sitios históricos en los Estados Unidos y susterritorios tienen como tema principal la milicia, incluyendo el nuestro aquíen San Juan", dijo el Superintendente Walter J. San Juan National Historic Site está compuesto por elCastillo San Felipe del Morro, Castillo San Cristobal, Fuerte de San Juan de LaCruz (El Cañuelo), Puerta de San Juan, y la mayor parte de la muralla de laciudad.
