Superintendent Walter J. Chavez announces nine more reasons to enjoy San Juan National Historic Site. "On Monday, January19, 2015 we celebrate the life and life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King", said Superintendent Chavez. Additionally we will have the opportunity for eight more days during this year to offer Free entrance to our visitors, "Let's begin this new year welcoming old and new friends to our park to learn, understand and enjoy these fortifications, and help us celebrate Dr. King's life;we are proud to say that his persistence and endurance were some of his strengths just like our fortifications", concluded Superintendent Chavez. Fee-free days for 2015 are as follow: ·January 19: Martin Luther King Jr. Day ·February 14-16: Presidents Day weekend ·April 18-19: National Park Week's opening weekend ·August 25: National Park Service's 99th birthday ·September 26: National Public Lands Day ·November 11: Veterans Day These free-fee days are waived for visitors at the fortifications;however this does not include Tour Operators operating under Commercial Use Authorizations within the park. Tour Operators will continue to pay the normal fee as described in their authorizations. For more information, please call 787-729-6777 or visit our website at www.nps.gov/saju. San Juan National Historic Site is comprised of Castillo San Felipe del Morro, Castillo San Cristóbal, Fort San Juan de La Cruz (El Cañuelo), San Juan Gate, and most of the City Wall. The site is open every day from 9:00AM to 6:00PM, except on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.Admission to San Juan NHS and its fortifications is $5 for visitors 16 years or more and free for those 15 and under with an adult. |
