Sagamore Hill Retail Store Manager Honored

Sagamore Hill Retail Store Manager, Debra Bulck received a special award for meritorious service for her work over the last year.  Ms. Bulck was honored for having produced the best year in retail sales the store has ever done.  The shop, operated by Eastern National, a separate cooperating organization, runs stores in parks, historic sites and museums in twenty-six states with a total number of nearly 200 stores. 

Sagamore Hill is currently marking the Sesquicentennial of Theodore Roosevelt, the celebration includes the design and production of more than twenty-five special sales items to mark the 150th birth anniversary of our 26th President, all coordinated by Ms. Bulck.  These items included special tee shirts, coffee mugs, polo shirts, postal cachets, and a special 150th medallion utilizing the sesquicentennial logo which is being sold until the conclusion of the sesquicentennial year on October 27 this year.

Eastern National Regional Manager Monta Harrington came to present the special award on February, 27. Ms. Harrington stated, “We are pleased to honor Debra Bulck and note her achievement in guiding the Sagamore Hill shop to its best year ever.  In a climate of economic decline, we are pleased that the store here has done so well.” Sagamore Hill Superintendent Thomas E. Ross remarked, “We are grateful for Ms. Bulck’s dedication and hard work as our gift shop manager. She did a great job this past year in developing a great line of products for the TR Sesquicentennial celebration. Visitors have appreciated the opportunity to take home unique items to celebrate Theodore Roosevelt and to mark their visit to his home on his 150th birthday.” 

Sagamore Hill NHS will continue to celebrate Theodore Roosevelt’s sesquicentennial through October 27, 2009 with special events and activities. The Eastern National Gift shop is located in the Visitor Center and is open during normal site hours.  The visitor center is open Wed through Sunday, 9am to 5pm.The site grounds are open 7 days per week, dawn to dusk.  For more information about Sagamore Hill and special events visit www.nps.gov/sahi or call 516-922-4788.

Sagamore Hill National Historic Site, located at 12 Sagamore Hill Road, Oyster Bay, New York, is a unit of the National Park Service.  The site was established by Congress in 1962 to preserve and interpret the structures, landscape, collections and other cultural resources associated with Theodore Roosevelt’s home in Oyster Bay, New York, to ensure that future generations understand and appreciate the life and legacy of Theodore Roosevelt, his family and the significant events associated with him.
