Sagamore Hill National Historic site, the home of Theodore Roosevelt in Oyster Bay, Long Island, will be hosting special programs during the winter and early spring season. These programs include guided nature walks, fee free days, and nature survey events. Schedule of Events: February 7th- 1:00pm: Guided Nature Walk 13th- 9:30am: The Great Backyard Bird Count –Grab those binoculars and help us identify and count our feathered friends! 15th- Sagamore Hill NHS will be open on Presidents Day 14th- 1:00pm: Guided Nature Walk 21st- 1:00pm: Guided Nature Walk 28th- 1:00pm: Guided Nature Walk March 6th- 1:00pm: Guided Nature Walk 13th- 1:00pm: Guided Nature Walk 20th- 1:00pm: Guided Nature Walk 27th- 1:00pm: Guided Nature Walk All programs are free of charge and suitable for all audiences. Visitors will still need tickets to tour the president's home. Tickets are $10 each and are available the same day as the tour at the Visitor Center. Tours are conducted every hour on the hour from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Tours are limited to 14 people, and on weekends often sell out between 10:00am –12:00pm. It is recommended that visitors arrive at 9:00am to purchase tickets. Ask at the Visitor Center about other activities available including visiting the Theodore Roosevelt Museum at Old Orchard, touring the grounds, and hiking the Nature Trail. There are also free Junior Ranger activities for children. Sagamore Hill buildings are currently closedon Mondays and Tuesdaysand will remain closed on these days until Memorial Day on Monday, May 30, 2016. Afterward buildings will be open 7 days a week until Labor Day on Monday, September 5, 2016. Grounds are open 7 days a week from sunrise to sunset all year round. |
