Join Park Ranger Joe Shannon an experienced birder and naturalist, on a leisurely stroll for a nature and bird walk through the wooded paths of Sagamore Hill and hear stories about Roosevelt's life interest in bird watching and nature study. Take a step back in time as you walk the same grounds that the 26th president and his family walked.  Who knows?  Maybe you can top TR's list of forty-two. A listing will be provided and participants can check off the birds they see. These nature walks on Sunday mornings at 9:30am

Nature walks require appropriate attire: long-sleeved shirts, long pants and sturdy walking shoes. Please wear insect repellent, sun-block, bring water and be prepared for steep and sometimes wet terrain.  As with all natural environments the risk of exposure to mosquitoes, ticks, the diseases they carry and poison ivy is present, but not usually a problem for those well prepared for outdoor activity.

Meet at the Visitor Center at the entrance of the park at 12 Sagamore Hill Road in Oyster Bay.  Wear appropriate clothes and be prepared for a moderately strenuous walk of about an hour's length. There is no charge for admission to the grounds or for the nature walks; those wishing to visit the historic residence must purchase tickets (at $5 each) and be assigned a tour time.  Tours are offered on the hour and admission to the house is by guided tour only.
