Oyster Bay, NY- Sagamore Hill National Historic Site, the home of Theodore Roosevelt in Oyster Bay, Long Island, will present special programs and activities throughout the summer to celebrate the National Park Service Centennial in 2016. Programs will include live music, arts and crafts, history and other family activities. Our hours of operation during the summer will be 9am-5pm. Sagamore Hill will remain open seven days a week until Labor Day on Monday, September 5th. After, the site will return to its off-season operating schedule of Wednesday-Sunday.

June 2016 

June 4 – Saturday-National Trails Day 
1 p.m. – Join the park’s volunteer naturalist on an exploration of Sagamore Hill’s fields and woodland trails. In addition, a children’s activity will be available from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. 
2 p.m. – Guided walks through Theodore Roosevelt’s Historic Oyster Bay will be offered by a Park Ranger. 

June 5 – Sunday: Conservation & Conversation
2 p.m. – A Rangers Choice Program will be offered at the Old Orchard Museum on a special topic on Theodore Roosevelt or the National Park Service Centennial. 

June 11 – Saturday: A Walk through the Past, Roosevelt’s Hometown 
2 p.m. – Guided walks through Theodore Roosevelt’s Historic Oyster Bay will be offered by a Park Ranger. 

June 12 – Sunday: Anniversary of the Antiquities Act 
1 p.m. – Join the park’s volunteer naturalist on an exploration of Sagamore Hill’s fields and woodland trails. In addition, a children’s activity will be available from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. 
2 p.m. – A Rangers Choice Program will be offered at the Old Orchard Museum on a special topic on Theodore Roosevelt or the National Park Service Centennial. 

June 19 – Sunday: Father's Day
9:30 a.m. – On Father’s Day 1910, Theodore Roosevelt compiled a list of birds he observed at Sagamore Hill. Participants will look for some of the same bird varieties that TR identified – and maybe a few that he never saw. A children’s bird craft activity will be available from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. 
2 p.m. – A Rangers Choice Program will be offered at the Old Orchard Museum on a special topic on Theodore Roosevelt or the National Park Service Centennial. 

June 25 – Saturday: A Walk through the Past, Roosevelt’s Hometown 
2 p.m. – Guided walks through Theodore Roosevelt’s Historic Oyster Bay will be offered by a Park Ranger. 

June 26 – Sunday- Music To Celebrate 100 Years 
1 p.m. – Join the park’s volunteer naturalist on an exploration of Sagamore Hill’s fields and woodland trails. In addition, a children’s activity will be available from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. 
2 p.m. – A Rangers Choice Program will be offered at the Old Orchard Museum on a special topic on Theodore Roosevelt or the National Park Service Centennial. 
6 p.m. – Sagamore Hill will be a host site for the Annual Oyster Bay Music Festival which attracts highly gifted Long Island music students ages 11-24. This special performance will include music played on a Steinway Grand Piano on Theodore Roosevelt’s porch. 

June 30 – Thursday - The Naturalist: Theodore Roosevelt, a Lifetime of Exploration, and the Triumph of American Natural History 
7 p.m. – Join us at Oyster Bay Historical Society. Author Darrin Lunde will provide an evening program on his new book that focuses on Theodore Roosevelt’s diaries and expedition journals including his including 1909-10 trip to East African that was sponsored the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C.
