(Richmond, CA) – As part of the National Park Services Urban Agenda, staff from the Rosie the Riveter/World War II Home Front National Historical Park, City of Richmond and the Local Government Commission have completed a draft of the Richmond Wellness Trail Vision Plan and it is now available for public comment. The Public Comment Period will extend from Friday March 3, 2017 to Monday, March 20, 2017 at 5:00 p.m.

Project Description:  The Richmond Wellness Trail Plan is an active trail that will be a safe, inviting, multimodal route that inspires a healthy, active lifestyle - increasing connections between historic Downtown Richmond, the Iron Triangle, and the natural and historic features of the waterfront and the Rosie the Riveter/World War II Home Front National Historical Park Visitors Center. Enhancements will include health themed art sculptures, murals, fitness equipment, safety and comfort improvements for pedestrians and traffic calming measures in addition to decorative treatments; wayfinding signage and opportunities for connections with health focused technology applications.

Project Location:  The Richmond Wellness Trail route begins at the Richmond Kaiser Permanente Medical Center and extends south along 9th Street and east onto the Richmond Greenway to 16th Street. From the Richmond Greenway the route continues north on 16th Street to the Richmond BART/AMTRAK Station. The route continues west along Nevin Avenue through the Richmond Transit Village returning to the Richmond Kaiser Permanente Medical Center. The “trunk line” of the Richmond Wellness Trail begins at the Richmond Greenway and goes south along Marina Way South, terminating at the end of Marina Way South at the Bay Trail, near the Rosie the Riveter/World War II Home Front National Historical Park Visitors Center.
