Contact: Kyle Patterson, (970) 586-1363 The one year countdown to Rocky Mountain National Park's 100th Anniversary celebration has begun! To kick off this countdown, Rocky Mountain National Park is pleased to share the winners of its 100th Anniversary Employee/Volunteer Photo Contest. These winning images, along with the Anniversary logo, will be used to represent the Centennial of the park in various ways throughout the celebration year. Park staff and volunteers were encouraged to submit one photo that was judged on originality, artistic composition, and how well the photograph represented some aspect of the 100th Anniversary slogan, "Wilderness, Wildlife, Wonder." Twenty-nine entries showcased stunning vistas, delicate wildflowers, natural phenomena, and an array of awe-inspiring wildlife encounters. Volunteer Photo Winner: Ann Schonlau Ann has volunteered for Rocky Mountain National Park since 2010, and currently volunteers with the Information Office, Alpine Visitor Center Alpineers, and Tundra Guardians. Her stunning photo of a pika hard at work captures the essence of this unique alpine creature that relies on the protected tundra of Rocky Mountain National Park for survival. Employee Photo Winner: Justine Booth Justine has worked for Rocky Mountain National Park as an interpretive park ranger since 2011. Justine's photo was taken along the Cub Lake Trail. According to Justine, "This photo is a celebration of hope for the future, not only for Rocky Mountain National Park but for our planet and the heavy challenges we will be facing over the next 100 years. I believe that we can face these challenges head on and emerge blooming from the ashes." There is still plenty of time for your business or organization to become part of the Rocky Mountain National Park 100th Anniversary Celebration. Creativity is encouraged! The 100th Anniversary logo is also available for retail use, print and electronic publications, and marketing.
