5On Thursday, May 12, Marin County Sheriff’s Deputies and Point Reyes National Seashore Rangers located and arrested two people suspected of an auto burglary which occurred within the National Seashore earlier in the day. Witness descriptions and a videotape from a local business helped to develop descriptions of the suspects and their vehicle. The vehicle was seen later that evening in the Bear Valley Visitor Center parking lot.

Officers stopped the vehicle on Bear Valley Road and the occupants were taken into custody. Evidence from the earlier burglary was found in the vehicle as was potential evidence of numerous other similar crimes. Both suspects also had outstanding warrants for their arrest. The National Park Service along with the Marin County Sheriff’s Office, have been monitoring parking lots to ensure a safer environment for park visitors. The Marin County Sheriff’s Department is leading the investigation.
