Discover the Trail one state at a time by following these self-guided tours. Explore each state's app sites and their rich natural and cultural features.

Looking for places you can hike along the trail? Want to earn your junior ranger badge? Check out the Things to Do to plan fun activities along the trail.


This app includes audio-described sites, alternative text for images, and works with the built-in iOS and Android accessibility features.

Using the App on the Trail

Cell service and Wi-Fi is often limited along the Trail. Fortunately, the app is available offline. All you need to do is to download the app before you set out on your Trail adventure. To do this, follow these simple steps:

  1. Download and install the app.
  2. Search for the National Historic Trail.
  3. On thet top of trail landing page, click the sliding button icon next to "Save this park for offline use."

The app's content will then download to your mobile device, allowing you to use the app even when you do not have service.
