Join us on Saturday, October 15th, for a Mushroom (and other Fungi) BioBlitz at Pipestone National Monument.
Be a citizen scientist for a day! Help park rangers and other fungal enthusiasts find and photograph fungi throughout the park. You will learn a little bit about Minnesota's mushrooms and have a chance to explore parts of the park rarely seen by visitors.
Meet at the Visitor Center at 8:45 am for a brief introductory talk before we head out to explore. Use your phone to photograph what you see and upload your observations to iNaturalist to help park biologists better understand fungal communities within the monument. The event will run from 9 am to 11 am.
What to Bring? Yourself and your phone! It is helpful to download the free iNaturalist app before your visit. This is an outdoor, off-trail event so please dress accordingly. This event is appropriate for all ages and is free and open to the public - no experience necessary!
For more information about the program, please call 507-825-5464 ext. 214 or visit the park website at www.nps.gov/pipe. Event details and program schedules will be posted on the park Facebook page at www.facebook.com/PipestoneNPS
