Friday, December 30th will be the annual Christmas Bird Count at Pipestone National Monument. Volunteers will meet at the park visitor center at 7:30am for complimentary coffee and donuts, break into groups, and head out to count those birds!
This is an early event (can't help when the birds are out), but always a fun one. If you haven't been birding or don't know a lot about them, that's okay! This is a perfect chance to both learn and help us collect data. The more experienced birders are always helpful and generous with their knowledge.
You won't be out in the cold the whole time either. We’ll be covering several miles surrounding Pipestone, so it's more of a scavenger hunt for groups as they drive through their designated areas, getting out in good spots to snap photos and record sounds of birds. Don't worry if you can’t identity the birds - our experienced birders will help with that!
This is a lot of fun for the whole family and provides crucial data about wildlife. We hope to see you here!
