Fire Danger

MODERATE

  • Wood and charcoal campfires permitted.
  • Park-provided grills open for public use.
  • No fires outside designated camping and picnic areas.

Talus Cave Closure Status

The Bear Gulch and Balconies Caves are both subject to closures due to Townsend's Big-Eared Bat activity, vandalism, or dangerous conditions such as high water during and after storms. Check here for the current Talus Cave Status.

The Bear Gulch Caves are made up of a main chamber, and an additional smaller chamber near the top. The smaller chamber is open only a few weeks out of every year, and the main chamber can be passed through regardless of the status of the smaller additional section.

Climbing Advisory And Closure Status

The cliffs and crags at Pinnacles National Park are subject to advisories and closures due to falcons and other sensitive raptor species breeding at the park from January to July every year. Check here for the current Raptor Advisory Status.
