Using historical archeology methods such as excavation, ethnography, oral history, and the examination of the historical record participants create interpretive products using various media to connect their communities to the stories they uncover.
Throughout the summer, participants will take field trips to historic sites for research, conduct oral history and ethnographic interviews with members of the community, attend an archeological field school at James Madison’s Montpelier, and conduct fieldwork at Petersburg National Battlefield.
