PETERSBURG, Va — Join the staff and living history volunteers at Petersburg National Battlefield as we continue our observance of the 160th anniversary of the Petersburg Campaign. The park will host two living history weekends in September.
On September 14-15, living historians portraying the 26th North Carolina will be at Tour Stop 3 on the park’s Eastern Front Tour Road. Throughout the weekend, they will conduct demonstrations and programs depicting life in the trenches for the common soldiers. The Eastern Front unit of the park can be accessed at the Eastern Front Visitor Center, 5001 Siege Road, Petersburg, Virginia.
Saturday, September 14
- 9:30 – Encampment Open to the Public
- 11:00 – Infantry Drill and Weapons Demonstration
- 1:30 – Infantry Drill and Weapons Demonstration
- 2:30 – Election in Camp
- 4:00 – Encampment Closed to the Public
Sunday, September 15
- 9:30 – Encampment Open to the Public
- 10:30 – Infantry Drill and Weapons Demonstration
- 12:00 – Encampment Closed to the Public
