On Saturday, March 23 and Sunday, March 24, Petersburg National Battlefield invites the public to come discover the story of the Battle of Fort Stedman, a key moment in the Petersburg Campaign.
From 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM both days, living historians from the Princess Anne Greys and 10th Virginia will conduct programs demonstrating sharpshooter drill and camp life and discuss the situation faced by Confederate forces in the spring of 1865. Additionally, NPS park staff will conduct guided tours of the battlefield at 2:30 PM both days. All events will occur at Stop 5 on the Eastern Front Tour Road. This can be accessed at the Eastern Front Visitor Center, 5001 Siege Road, Petersburg, Virginia.
A detailed schedule of the programs will be released at a later date. For updates, visit the calendar page on nps.gov/pete and follow our social media. All the commemorative events are family friendly, free, and weather permitting.
