We Need Your Help!

The National Park Service refers to our volunteers as VIPs - Volunteers-in-Parks. VIPs work side-by-side with NPS employees across the country. Whether you work behind the scenes or with park visitors, you can make a difference by helping to connect people with their parks! Become a VIP and put yourself at the heart of the park experience.

The Pearl Harbor National Memorial offers many rewarding volunteer opportunities. We are seeking volunteers in various areas, including:

Volunteer Opportunities

Pearl Harbor offers a wide variety of volunteer opportunities. There are projects that are designed for groups of volunteers to take part in and projects for individuals to take on. We even offer virtual volunteer opportunities! No matter the project or the number of people, we host a wide array of opportunities to fit anyone's interest. Work with the park's visitors, partners, and rangers - there's something for everyone!
An application is required for all volunteer positions. Some positions require a time commitment, training, and a background check. Training is provided unless otherwise noted. Please take a look at our current opportunities.

Current Opportunities: Find Your Interest

Pearl Harbor Ambassador:

The volunteer serves as a front-line representative of the agency working at the park entrance plaza, information desk, and the memorial theatre. The volunteer will greet park visitors and provide information about the park, orientation, directions, and help staff events. Pearl Harbor is a powerful place with a legacy that impacts our visitors in diverse and personal ways. Ambassadors will help visitors find those personal connections and understand their impact. Provide information about the boat schedule and logistics of getting to the USS Arizona Memorial. Provide accurate and objective information on other opportunities within the park and partnership sites that can be visited. Duties may also include stocking brochure displays, answering telephone inquiries, operating office equipment, recording visitor statistics, standing for extended periods of time, and opening/closing of building.

Landscaper:

We are seeking dedicated and dependable Volunteer Landscapers to help maintain the beauty and serenity of the grounds. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, take pride in maintaining natural spaces, and are passionate about preserving the legacy of our nation's history.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with general landscape maintenance, including:
  • Trimming, pruning, weeding, and mulching
  • Watering and caring for native plants
  • Removing invasive plant species
  • Raking leaves and clearing walkways
  • Help maintain flower beds, memorial gardens, and ceremonial areas
  • Assist with planting and seasonal landscaping projects
  • Follow National Park Service safety protocols and guidelines
  • Provide support during special events or clean-up days as needed

Quarterly Days of Service

Join Pearl Harbor National Memorial for one of our quarterly days of service! During four times of the year the park hosts a day of service for members of the community to go come out and volunteer with rangers. You can volunteer as individual or a group. For more information, perl_info@nps.gov.

January 19th - MLK Day, Monday
April 22nd - Earth Day, Wednesday
September 4th - The Friday before Labor Day
November 21st - The Saturday before Thanksgiving
