Pecos, NM:– Join us for an evening under the fabled western sky. Pecos National Historical Park will offer a free performance by cowboy musician Dr. Steve Cormier followed by a night sky program on Saturday, June 3rd. Both programs will take place on the grounds of the Forked Lightning Ranch House. Due to limited space, reservations are required.
Dr. Cormier’s will present traditional cowboy music that reflects his experience as a ranch and farm hand. His performance will take place at 7:00 p.m. in the courtyard of the Forked Lightning Ranch House. Visitors are invited to bring blankets to lie out on the courtyard lawn to enjoy the performance.
Following Dr. Cormier’s performance, explore the heavens during a ranger-led night sky program that begins at 8:30 p.m. Visitors are invited to bring their own telescopes or use the park’s telescopes to gaze and explore the park’s night skies. This event is weather-dependent and red-bulb flashlights and appropriate clothing are recommended.
The events will take place at the Forked Lightning Ranch House. Visitors are asked to turn at the Trading Post (pink building on the east side of Highway 63) and speak to the ranger on duty there for further directions. The gate will open at 6:30 p.m.; the gate will shut at 7:15 p.m. Please note that after 7:15 no further entry will be permitted.
