Research and Permits

Independent Research

Padre Island National Seashore (PAIS) strongly encourages the participation of academic and independent scientists in the park science program. The more that is understood about the natural, cultural, and historic resources that exist at PAIS, along with an understanding of visitors and how they use the park, the better the park will be able to manage its resources. To familiarize yourself with previous research that has been conducted at the park, please visit the NPS Research Permit and Reporting System website and examine the archive of Investigator's Annual Reports.
