The National Park Service (NPS) is working servicewide with federal, state, and local public health authorities to closely monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and using a phased approach to increase access on a park-by-park basis. Based on guidance from the White House, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and state and local public health authorities, access to Palo Alto Battlefield is as follows:
Re-opening:
- All roads, parking areas, restrooms, and outdoor facilities
- Visitor Center
- SUN. — 12 p.m. to 3 p.m
- MON. — Closed
- TUE. thru SAT. — 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
With public health in mind, the following conditions are in place:
- Visitor Center maximum occupancy is 15
Oralia Fernandez, Superintendent, states, “We are excited to finally open the doors of our Visitor Center to the public. The park staff has worked hard to ensure visitors will have a safe, enjoyable experience while also providing a safe working environment for employees.”
The public is reminded that in support of Executive Order on Protecting the Federal Workforce and Requiring Mask-Wearing, face masks are now required in all park buildings and facilities, including the Visitor Center and restrooms. Masks are also required on NPS-managed lands when physical distancing cannot be maintained, including narrow or busy trails, overlooks, picnic areas, and parking lots.
