Port Angeles, Wash. - Haztech Drilling, under contract with the Federal Highway Administration, will begin geotechnical drilling on the North Shore Quinault Road on March 1, 2024. The drilling will require limited closures along the road. Quinault will remain accessible throughout construction, but travelers will not be able to complete the Quinault Road loop drive.
Crews expect the drilling will require more than a week of work. Extreme weather or unforeseen circumstances may delay the completion date and extend the closure through March 30, 2024. The road will reopen as soon as drilling is complete. This drilling will provide important information for the upcoming design of repairs to Quinault Road.
