At approximately 3 pm on Sunday, October 15, Obed staff received a call reporting a man who had fallen from Lilly Bluff Overlook after climbing over the railing. Responding park rangers located the body of a 30-year-old male.
Michigan resident Christopher Rogers attempted to jump from the overlook to a nearby tree, but the branches couldn't support his weight and continued falling before hitting a rock ledge.
Visitors are reminded that climbing over park railings is dangerous and are there for their protection.
An investigation is being conducted by the National Park Service and Morgan County Sheriffs Office.
