Obed WSR is requesting public comment on a proposal to increase the overnight camping fee at Rock Creek Campground from $10 to $15. This fee was last raised in 2016 to support going onto the national reservation system. Since that time, administrative costs associated with the campground as well as service charges have gone up. Comparability reviews recommend this fee increase to prevent undercutting businesses in nearby communities. The proposed fee would go into effect on January 1, 2024.
Rock Creek Campground is located six miles from Wartburg, Tennessee next to the Emory River. There are 11 campsites total with two that are ADA accessible. Each site has a picnic table, food storage locker, fire ring with grill, and paved parking. A vault toilet is also centrally located in the campground.
Fee revenue is used to support projects that improve visitor experiences including maintaining and improving trails, campground facilities, parking areas, as well as funding critically needed job positions.
