WARTBURG, Tennessee: The National Park Service invites photographers to submit entries for an exhibit at the Obed Wild and Scenic River Visitor Center. The National Park Service is looking for striking digital images of nature, highlighting the diversity of life in the park. Images may show wildlife, plant life, natural landscapes, weather, or people interacting with nature within the Obed Wild and Scenic River. All photographs, except those submitted as artistic, should accurately reflect the subject matter and the scene as it appeared. Photographs may be submitted into one of five categories: Fauna (animals in their natural habitat, including close-ups of invertebrates), Flora (plants in their natural habitat, including close-ups of flowers, fungi, lichen, and algae), Landscapes (expansive and dramatic views of the land and its features), Artistic (artistic compositions in nature both natural and manipulated in post processing), and Youth (entries by photographers under the age of 18 and each photograph must fit the criteria of the first four categories). Entries will be judged on technical excellence, originality, creativity, visual impact, and artistic merit. Judges decisions are final. Selected images will be printed for an exhibition at the Visitor Center that will open on Saturday August 25, 2012.Selected images may also be displayed on the internet, and other venues. Entries must be received no later than July, 1, 2012. Each entry must be accompanied by a completed entry form with all information clearly filled out. Entry forms may be downloaded from https://www.nps.gov/obed/upload/OBED-Photo-Contest-Forms.pdf. Entries may be dropped off at or mailed to the Obed Wild and Scenic River Visitor Center (208 N. Maiden Street, Wartburg, TN 37887. Entries sent by mail must be received no later than June 30, 2012. Please note: The contest ends on a Sunday.
