WARTBURG, Tennessee:The Obed Wild and Scenic River will be having a fee-free day on Saturday, September 29th, to celebrate National Public Lands Day.Anyone camping at the park's Rock Creek Campground will not have to pay a camping fee that day.Campers should fill out their camping envelopes as usual, but make sure that you write "fee-free" and fill out the date section on your envelope.

This special fee-free day is offered annually to celebrate the usage of National Park Service sites and federally-protected government parks throughout the country.National Public Lands Day is celebrated annually at public lands in the United States on a Saturday in late September and promotes both popular enjoyment and volunteer conservation of public lands.

Three federal agencies and 700 volunteers launched the first National Public Lands Day in 1994. In less than twenty years, participation has grown to almost 200,000 volunteers at over 2,000 sites across the country.
