WARTBURG, Tennessee: The Obed Wild and Scenic River, in partnership with Dr. Owen Hoffman, will host a full moon hike to the Lilly Overlook on Monday, August 11. Dr. Hoffman is a former park ranger/naturalist at Crater Lake, Zion, and Yosemite National Parks. The program will begin at the Lilly Overlook parking area at 9:00 p.m. ET. From there, participants will walk to the overlook where Ranger Chance Hall will discuss the importance of dark skies to plants, animals, and humans around the world. Light pollution and the effects it is having on ecosystems will be discussed. All ages are welcome to attend this free event, but children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the program.
