WARTBURG, Tennessee: The Obed Wild and Scenic River will be having a black bear program and a Junior Ranger workshop on Saturday, July 5, beginning at 1:00 p.m. (ET). Both programs will be held inside the Obed Visitor Center, located at 208 North Maiden Street in downtown Wartburg. Black bears have migrated to the Cumberland Plateau over the past three decades, and this program will focus on their habits and mannerisms. We will also discuss the importance of understanding bears and what behaviors we should practice when visiting the bears’ natural habitats. After the bear program, Ranger Joe will be conducting a Junior Ranger workshop. Kids under the age of 14 will be given booklets to fill out, and will earn official Junior Ranger badges and patches. No reservations are required for these free programs. Please contact the park at (423) 346-6294 for further details and information. |
