The Obed Adopt-A-Crag event involves more than just rocks.  A variety of activities are useful to help our park and forrested areas.

WARTBURG, Tennessee:The Obed Wild and Scenic River will celebrate National Public Lands Day by teaming up with the East Tennessee Climbers Coalition (ETCC) to host the 14th annual Adopt-a-Crag event at the park on Saturday, September 7th. Interested volunteers will help to treat hemlock trees to protect them from Hemlock Woolly Adelgid.Other projects include trail maintenance and litter pickup. Meet at Del and Marte's Campground at 950 Ridge Road, Lancing, Tennessee at 9 am (EDT) to receive your project assignment. Please be sure to bring your own bag lunch and water. You may also choose to bring your own hand tools for trimming brush, gloves and insect repellent.

After the work is completed around 2:30 pm, volunteers are encouraged to spend time enjoying the park.  The East Tennessee Climbers Coalition will be hosting dinner, games and announcements at Del and Marte's Campground at 6:30 pm. Due to limited parking, carpooling is suggested. Once on Ridge Road, follow signs to the parking area for the event, located off of Doc Howard Road.
