In celebration of the National Park Service turning 105 years old, Obed Wild & Scenic River will host a combined birthday party and 10th annual photo contest reception on Friday, August 27 at the Obed Visitor Center back lawn, located at 208 North Maiden Street in downtown Wartburg. The festivities will begin at 5:00 PM (ET).The festivities will include light refreshments, a birthday cake and live music by the Shelter Road Band. The event will also include a display of photographs from the recent Obed photography contest.
During the evening, the contest’s winning entries will be revealed in five categories: youth, recreation, landscapes, flora & fauna, and dark skies. The winning entries have been judged on technical excellence, originality, creativity, visual impact, and artistic merit. There will also be a people’s choice award for the photograph that gets the most votes that evening.
