Did you know that in 2019 more than 279,000 people volunteered their time at National Parks across the country?

The important historical, cultural, and natural sites that make up the National Park Service belong to the American people.Volunteers in Parks (VIP), are vital in ensuring that these places remain intact for all future generations to enjoy.

At the National Parks of New York Harbor our volunteers conduct a wide range of work. From clearing trails and monitoring wildlife species, to providing educational programs and welcoming visitors to a park site, our volunteers provide an immeasurable service in carrying out the mission of the National Park Service.

With so many unique opportunities, such as volunteering with the Trails & Rails program, you will be sure to feel a sense of fullfilment and pride at the end of the day. No matter what your interests or skill set may be, there is bound to be a volunteer opportunity perfect for you.
