The one-lane bridge over the Skagit River to the North Cascades Visitor Center and Newhalem campground will be closed for maintenance beginning Monday, September 18, 2017. The week-long project includes resurfacing the bridge deck as well rock stabilization on the bridge approach.

With the assistance of Seattle City Light, North Cascades Visitor Center will be temporarily housed in the town of Newhalem across from the general store at the Skagit Information Center. Hours for the week will be 9 am-5 pm daily.

Newhalem Campground will close for the season on Sunday, September 17. All campers in the Newhalem campground must vacate the campground by noon. Goodell campground and Colonial South campground walk up sites, numbers 64-73, will be available for camping.

The Rock Shelter Trail and River Loop Trail can be accessed via the Trail of Cedars, which begins in Newhalem.

The maintenance work is expected to be completed by Friday, September 22. However, resurfacing is weather dependent and dates may vary. Please contact 360-854-7301 for updated information.
