Both docks at Weaver Point Camp at the head of Lake Chelan near Stehekin have been removed for the season due to low lake levels. The first dock was taken out in mid-September. Since the 2003 flood, the Stehekin River has cut a new path near the Weaver Point docks, resulting in significant damage to the pilings that hold them in place. The 2006 flood also caused extensive damage to the docks. These docks are normally inaccessible in the winter months due to low lake levels. The National Park Service is removing the docks again this winter to avoid further damage from the river as the lake level recedes and plans to replace them in the spring when the lake reaches an appropriate depth. Weaver Point Campground is still open and accessible to hikers. However, due to freezing temperatures, the water system at the camp has been drained for the winter. Pit toilets are available. Please pack out all garbage. The Stehekin Landing marina (accessible all year) and the Purple Point docks by Purple Point Campground remain available to boaters. Boat-in camping is also still available at Flick Creek Camp and Manly Wham camps within the Lake Chelan National Recreation Area.
