Due to reduced threat of fire to the community of Stehekin, Chelan County Sheriff Mike Harum, in partnership with North Cascades National Park Service Complex and fire managers, decided to reduce the evacuation status to a Level 1 Evacuation Notice for the entire Stehekin Valley, including Hazard Creek and all residences from the Stehekin Landing up to High Bridge.

Level 1 Evacuation Notification means: “This is an official warning to the community that the current or projected threats from the fire are severe.  This is the time to prepare for the approaching fire by preparing property, arranging for livestock needs, and monitoring the status of the fire through media outlets and information distributed by officials.” (From the Flick Creek Fire Evacuation Plan, updated September 4, 2006.)

Fire managers have been continuously reassessing fire behavior, weather and the progression of the fire in the Imus Creek drainage.  With the help of cool weather and rain, firefighters were able to establish a solid fireline around the northern perimeter of the fire.

Flick Creek Camp, Purple Point Camp, Purple Point Overflow Camp, Purple Creek Trail, Imus Loop Trail, and Lakeshore Trail 1247 from Stehekin to Moore Point remain closed. The Summit Trail, Boulder Creek Trail and Juanita Lake Camp are now open. Please be advised that you may still encounter smoke on these trails.
