The public is invited to comment on an Environmental Assessment (EA) to reroute approximately 0.25 miles of the Stehekin Valley Road at milepost (MP) 5.5 in Lake Chelan National Recreation Area. The purpose of this action is to sustainably maintain safe and reliable vehicle access on the Stehekin Valley Road by addressing the threat of river bank erosion below the road near MP 5.5. Maintaining this access is essential for local transportation needs and ensuring the health and safety of the local populace, National Park Service employees, and visitors.

An EA analyzes the environmental impacts of the proposed project and a no action alternative to help determine whether the National Park Service should carry out the proposed action.

All comments on the EA are welcome, particularly those that identify ways to lessen the impacts of the proposed action or address if the document provides enough evaluation of the effects on the environment.

To review the EA and provide electronic comments visit https://parkplanning.nps.gov/StehekinRoadReloEA2021

Comments will be accepted March 15 through April 13, 2021.

Hardcopy comments can be mailed to: Superintendent, 810 State Route 20, Sedro Woolley, WA 98284.
