Sedro Woolley, WA– Cascade River Road remains closed at milepost 20, three miles before the Cascade Pass trailhead. Cascade River Road sustained a considerable amount of damage following the storms, heavy rains and flooding last winter. Crews are working to stabilize and repair the road and clear the debris, which will take a minimum of 2-3 weeks.
Parked vehicles should stay clear of the road and gate around the closure where trucks need access beyond the gate. Foot traffic is permitted beyond the closure. Hikers should use caution when hiking along the road and pay close attention to large trucks and equipment.
Cascade Pass is one of the most popular destination hikes in North Cascades National Park. The trailhead is located approximately 23 miles from the junction of the Cascade River Road and Highway 20.
For information on alternative hikes in the park, call the Wilderness Information Center at 360-854-7245.
