Ninety Six National Historic Site is pleased to announce that the Ninety Six Equestrian Management Plan / Environmental Assessment (EA) is available for public review and comment from November 19 – December 19, 2018. The plan considers and lays out a range of options to determine how best to accommodate equestrian usage of trails, while protecting and preserving the natural and cultural resources for which Congress established the site.
“The plan is an important milestone in creating a shared vision for enhancing visitor experience, while protecting Ninety Six National Historic Site's cultural and natural resources,” said Park Superintendent, John Slaughter. Superintendent Slaughter also encouraged the public to provide their thoughts, stating “Public input is a key element of our planning process, and it is important to hear your thoughts on the plan.”
To support public participation, the park is hosting a public meeting on Monday, December 3, 2018 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Ninety Six Welcome Center located at 97 Highway 34, Ninety Six, SC.
Those unable to attend the public meeting can post comments on the NPS Planning, Environment & Public Comment (PEPC) website at http://parkplanning.nps.gov/nisiequestrianplan during the November 19 – December 19, 2018 open comment period.
