NINETY SIX, South Carolina: On October 13 Ninety Six National Historic Site will illuminate the past. The history of the backcountry will come to life during the 31st Autumn Candlelight Tour. Reenactors will present scenes from colonial life and the Revolution along the one-mile interpretive trail lit by the soft glow of hundreds of luminaries and lanterns. Tours will begin at 7 p.m. and leave at 10-minute intervals with the last tour at 8:20 p.m. Tours last approximately one hour and fifteen minutes and each tour will be accompanied by a guide who will light the path with a period lantern.
Tickets are free and are only available the evening of the event at the information tent located near the main parking area.The 22-minute park film, "Ninety Six:Crossroads of a Revolution" will be available for viewing in the visitor center until 8:30 p.m. and the gift shop will be open until 9 p.m. for visitors who would like to browse the park's selection of books and gifts. Visitors should wear comfortable outdoor clothing and walking shoes. Visitors are also recommended to bring a flashlight. The park encourages visitors to carpool as parking will be limited.
Ninety Six National Historic Site is administered by the National Park Service. The park is located two miles south of Ninety Six on SC Highway 248.
