As fall approaches, the Niobrara National Scenic River Visitor Center will transition to its off-season schedule. Saturday, Sept. 20, will be the final weekend day the Visitor Center is open for the 2025 season.Beginning on Sunday, Sept. 21, the Visitor Center will operate Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Central Time.
These hours will remain in effect through Memorial Day weekend 2026.The Visitor Center will be closed on the following federal holidays: Columbus Day (Oct. 13), Veterans Day (Nov. 11), Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 27), Christmas Day (Dec. 25), and New Year’s Day (Jan. 1, 2026).
New this fall, the Visitor Center installed a Free Little Library outside the main entrance. In addition to offering books for all ages, the library will house the park’s official stamp, allowing visitors to mark their national park passports even when the center is closed. This feature supports after-hours engagement and encourages continued exploration of the Niobrara River corridor.
